Rated 1 out of 5 Terrible when we arrived at our hotel, the person at the desk told us our reservation had been cancelled. Nobody on my end cancelled our reservation. They would not just admit that somebody on their end obviously made a mistake and cancelled our reservation. We were originally booked for two nights, but they only had a room for the night we arrived. Leaving us to have to spend our evening finding another place to stay the next night for way more money. The "supervisor" at the desk only offered us a 10% discount due to our troubles, and we had to fight for that.So we finally made it to our room, settled in, only to discover the Tv was broken. So we were re-located to another room. Settled in again.The rooms are indeed nice, and the bed very comfortable, but that's it. We had brought a bottle of wine with us, but guess what? They didn't have a corkscrew for us to use!The next morning at around 10am, a cleaning attendant walked right into our room while we were in bed. Bare in mind, check-out was not until 11.I got up to make a coffee in the nice Keurig machine, but alas, only decaf options were available.Now originally, because of our troubles, the staff offered to pay our transportation to another hotel upon checking out. Lucky for us, a friend let us stay at their condo the next night. However, they refused to pay transportation to our friends house.Over-all, it was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. Rated 5 out of 5 Central Toronto hotel The St.James Hotel was lovely. Clean, fresh rooms with wooden floors which can be kept much cleaner than carpet. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. October 13, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 Nice bed, quiet. Would not stay here again. No breakfast options. Some people may not feel safe walking down Gerrard St. at night. Shelter is next to hotel. Hotel feels empty. Hotel doesn't feel welcoming. No gym. No bar. No dining. Trash was in the wastebasket in the washroom when I arrived in the room. No water bottles. No snacks. Lobby feels empty. October 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 A lovely hotel experience I had a great stay at the St.James Hotel. I loved the cucumber and lemon water that was available in the lobby and the feel and decor of the hotel was wonderful. The elevator broke on my last day so I had to carry my bags down four flights of stairs which was unfortunate but I am sure the problem was fixed. I also felt the internet connection was a bit slow. Rated 5 out of 5 Great Room Our 2 Queen Beds room was immaculate, bright, fresh, and provided adequate space. The modern dark wood furnishings and flooring complimented the white décor very well. The high beds and high quality bed linens provided a comfortable rest. The microwave and refrigerator were handy. We liked that the modern bathroom (with nice shower) was well stocked with good quality towels. We also appreciated having complimentary bedroom slippers. In terms of room for improvement, the bathroom could perhaps do with another small shelf since there is not much space to put stuff at the sink area. Excellent customer service; friendly but professional staff. Great location. September 30, 2014
