Shakespeare & Company has been performing works by the Bard for over 30 years in the Berkshires. The Guthrie Center at the Old Trinity Church was established with a noble mission of stringing the entire community together with love and peace. In collaboration with other religious and cultural organizations, this center organizes artistic and religious events on a regular basis. The Berkshire Lyric Theatre performs at venues across the Berkshires. Founded in 1963 by director Robert Blakefield, a former New York voice teacher and Broadway choral director, the Lyric Theatre provides choral training and performance opportunities for emerging talent, and establishes scholarships for students of instrumental and vocal music.

This facility sprawls over 50,000 square feet (4645 square meters) and is home to a 350-capacity McConnell Theater, a 100-capacity Liebowitz Studio Theater, as well as several studios and exhibition spaces. Dating back to 1905, the Mahaiwe is one of the oldest theaters in the country. The Mahaiwe operates all year long, featuring events such as the Metropolitan Opera “Live in HD” programs, classic movie screenings and live performances by the Berkshire Opera, as well as other music, dance and theater performances.
